Being a cool day didn't stop Daken from being out and about. Especially in a city he has never been to before. The park seemed to be full of people on a Saturday afternoon. Not like it mattered who took notice in him as far as he was concerned. He gave a few people a greeting when they were the ones to start out.
If he was honestly concerned about a place he wanted to know about he would have asked for directions. As of right now he was just to roam around to find things out on his own. After stopping in front of a large stone statue of some hero, Daken raised his sunglasses to the top of his head.
This man was something of a major importance since there were plenty of statues and newspaper articles that were front page. The plaque read the name of Superman. 'Who the hell is this freak?' he thought to himself. Not many seemed to go for the cape and probably what appeared to be spandex combination in his Universe any more.
'Actually,' he mused to himself as he studied the statue of Superman, 'does anyone really know who he is under the cape?' It would seem highly logical that people would have found out by now unless he was a shapeshifter and can change his appearance like Raven Darkholme. Maybe he should look into this while he was in Metropolis? Or maybe he could leave it for another time.....

Mari McCabe had no real agenda today. She was just going to be taking it nice and easy, some down time for herself. She didn't take any modeling gigs today or had her secretary cancel any and every one of her meetings cause she didn't want to be bothered with them. The woman would be able to handle the company in Mari's absence hell she was pretty much used to it by now. Mari traveled to the city of Metropolis where she would meet up with some old friends and just hang out. But that would be later on tonight. Right now she was taking a little stroll through Centennial Park.
She admired the beautiful scenery of the place. She sometimes felt like going back to her home in Africa to just forget about the troubles of the world and relax with her family. She let out a low sigh with a smile. Mari approached one of the statues of a friend of hers, Superman himself. She snickered a little as she thought about the times they had. Her eyes drifted to the stranger with the mohawk, gave a nod for a greeting, and then walked on.

The snicker caused Daken to glance over at the dark skinned woman. Just what was so amusing? He arched a dark brow upon the musing as she glanced in his direction. Hmm. She shall be more interesting than this man they made a statue out of. Maybe provide a few clues in the process.
“Hey,” he called out to her, walking to catch up to her. “Are you from around here?” A very straight forward question and that will give her the knowledge that he wasn't from these parts. Playing was always fun, but right now it wasn't time for that just yet.
Pulling the shades down from on top of his head, he kept pace along side her, hands stuffed in his pockets. A million things came to mind on what to ask her first. Each one may give him a brush off type answer if she is a callous woman. Or maybe he'll end up lucky and she'll go with him someplace.
“So do you know of any good places to eat around here? Japanese, per se.” The half-Japanese individual could not give up the type of life he had lived with such great food and tea. Many restaurants in the states were crap with how they made Western meals. It could be just wishful thinking that this city could actually provide with an extremely good restaurant to eat at.

When Mari heard the “hey” she didn't stop walking. If he wanted to speak he'd better come to her. Which was exactly what the man did. She looked over at him with a warm smile. ”Hello. And no I'm not from Metropolis, though I know the city just as well as the local.” Being in the Justice League and modeling business meant you got around, a lot. She was currently living on the Watchtower for the most part, but she had a temp home here in the city.
She nodded to him when he asked her about a Japanese restaurant. Mari took a few seconds to think it over. ”There are two restaurants that serve traditional Japanese cuisine. One if the Sushi House located on Main Street and Kimball. The other is, oddly enough, Traditional Japan on 34th street and Watkins. Hope I was of service to you my mohawked friend.” Mari wasn't really in the mood for a guy to be chatting with her at the moment.

They both sounded..... bland. So pretty much it was a hit or miss on which ever one he had decided to try out first. Maybe this dark skinned beauty would like to have lunch with him? She obviously had an air around her that meant she wasn't willing to play with any male. Oh, but Daken wasn't just any one.
“Daken Akihiro,” he stated while going by what Norman calls him. A possible way of making her more interested in him if he gave her his name. And not just any stupid nick name she wanted to throw at him either. Daken would have made it more formal with a bow if they weren't walking. Pfft! Like he did that often anymore. These days it would only work in Japan as everyone else is too brash on knowing other cultures.
“I was thinking....” he began, emitting pheromones to just get her into a more normal conversational state instead of wanting to bite his head off on saying the wrong thing. “I could just take you out to lunch at whichever restaurant you think is best from what you just stated. Also you could tell me more about Metropolis.”
A smile tugged at his lips in a comforting manner. He really was not trying to pick her up at all. Just a normal lunch out with a new friend. “I'll be buying, if that isn't too much of a problem for such a strong woman as yourself.” His blue eyes looked her over behind the dark shades and figured she wasn't into the strong traditional way of how dating used to be like.

”Mari McCabe. Pleasure meeting you, Daken.” Interesting name, she'd heard it before. It meant something negative in the Japanese language. It was pretty obvious that this man was from the other universe since he didn't know who she was. Nearly if not every person knew her name across the world. Glad she didn't let that kind of stardom go to her head. Mar's attention was drawn to him with a slight smirk. This man could not be serious. He most definitely didn't know who she was if was trying to seduce her with some cheap parlor trick.
Mari's natural connection to the Earth allowed her to detect such trickery. She chuckled. ”You see I might have considered having lunch with you, if you hadn't tried to influence my decision. Now you will have to find other woman or spend lunchtime all on your little lonesome.” Such ignorance was hilarious to her. ”Though be warned. Try that again and I will show you what I am truly capable of. Good sir.” And just like that with a pep in her step, Mari McCabe left the little man by himself to think about his actions.
