The heroes had won a major battle, defeating Norman Osborn and his Dark Avengers, and showing what he really was, in front of the entire world, however, they couldn't have been more wrong. After the defeat of Norman and his Dark Avengers, Magneto and his Brotherhood returned, more powerful and dangerous than ever. With the help of Ms. Sinister, Magneto released a new, more dangerous strain of the Legacy virus, which was suppose to kill every homo-sapien, while leaving mutants untouched. Unbeknownst to everyone, Ms. Sinister was under the control of Dr. Doom, who forced her to change the virus so it would kill 61% 0f all life on the planet, which it would have, if not for the timely intervention of Dr. Strange, Wiccan, and Dr. Voodoo. The three mages were able to contain the virus to New York City, giving the rest of the world a chance to fight back.
Two weeks after the attack, the Dark Avengers were driven out of Avengers Tower by a zombie Sentry, and took up residence in the former Morlock Tunnles beneath New York's streets.
Meanwhile, Dr. Voodoo and his Defenders stayed in New York to stop the Zombies and find a cure, while other heroes followed Pepper Potts and Hank Pym to California, where they try and save what's left of the country. Another group of heroes leave Earth, on a secret mission, the truth of which is only known by its leader.
And suddenly, strange portals have been depositing outsiders all over the world. Without the Fantastic Four to defend the Earth from extra-dimensional threats, no one is observing this phenomenon. Who are these newcomers? Are they friend or foe? And what sinister force is truly behind their appearance?
Can the heroes save the world, or will they be doomed to become zombies themselves? The fate of the entire Marvel world is in your hands.
